I spent the better part of the morning fixing my edit controller (finessing the wiring in it a bit) and cleaning out my trackball from a spilled mixture of instant tea and Tang.
I’ve been ill. Don’t ask.
I noticed the scroll ring on the trackball was a little iffy. Luckily it had an optical sensor so I removed the circuit board and gave it a little shot of silicone lubricant. I took a lot of joy in spinning that little wheel rapidly for the first time since I’ve owned it.
It’s the small things.
I may have ranted about this before, but the world feels like it has too many things that are used and thrown away. “Planned obsolescence” is a real thing. Things are designed to break and be replaced. There’s something wrong with this picture and it feels a little good to be able to make small repairs on things and make them last a bit longer than intended.
