I made a new avatar for Facebook and Twitter this week. I really like the fact that when it’s post-identifying-micro small it look almost like the generic no-profile pic. My eyebrows and beard seemed to conspire to look angry tho, so I’m not completely happy with it.
I also went through my likes on Facebook with a merciless series of mouse clicks as I denuded my “Likes” category down to the bare minimum. The only things that were allowed to remain were pages that had some connection to my friends, else they bombard me with more requests to like their pages. I did this in an attempt to make my newsfeed more friend focused and consisting of less corporate social media post dry heaves. I feel like I was seeing the same things over and over, but less of what was going on in my friends lives and that made me feel like a bit of a jerk.
I’ve tossed around a new social media hiatus idea. Not so much unplugging entirely, but making my time on Facebook count more towards reading my friends posts and liking the pictures of their kids. I think it needs a proper hashtag so I’ve been considering #3oDaysOfLessMe or something like that.
I don’t know. We’ll see how it goes. I might do nothing with it.
