This is the group photo from the Visually Impaired Camp from this year. I’m really proud to be a part of Indo Jax in some small way. There’s few things more inspiring than watching kids with varying levels of visual ability going out and doing something that anyone would have difficulty doing and wearing big fat grins as they do it. If it ever gets old or boring, then you’ve got to be some kind of dead inside.
My grandfather was blind. He ran the snack bar in the D.C. IRS building for years. I carry bits of his wisdom and experience with me every day. Inspiring does not even begin to describe what he meant to me and watching these kids displaying the same spirit is a reminder every year that obstacles need not be dead ends.
