I don’t know if we’ll ever get back to what normal was. I’m not sure that we should. Jack Reacher was on the other night and I caught scene where Jack asks Helen if any of the people they can see in their offices look like they’re really “free”.
I think there’s maybe a bit of something to the idea that our modern life possesses us more than we are in possession of it.
Here’s a list of things – ideas that I’ve been thinking about.
- Living Wages
- Affordable Healthcare
- Paid Sick Leave
- Income Disparity
These are all systemic issues and while I think the Bible does speak about personal charity, it also speaks of creating a society that has allowances for the poorest among us. I think that is as much caring for “the least of these” as anything else. How can you say you care for someone if you don’t advocate for change in the systems that are working against them?
